Genie Make a Wish Episode 2 English Subtitles
Episode 2 begins exactly where Episode 1 ended—Jinwoo staring in shock as the mysterious girl who appeared out of the antique lamp declares herself a genie.
“I Am Not a Ghost. I’m a Genie.”
The girl crosses her arms proudly.
Genie (subtitles): “My name is Lira. I grant wishes. And you, human, are my master.”
Jinwoo steps back, nearly tripping over his suitcase.
Jinwoo (subtitles):
“A master? Are you joking? This is Seoul, not some fairy-tale desert!”
Lira rolls her eyes dramatically.
Lira:
“You rubbed the lamp. I appeared. That’s how it works. Now, tell me your first wish.”
The First Rule of Wishes
Lira explains the rules as she floats a few inches above the ground, glowing faintly.

Jinwoo rubs his temples.

Before he can respond, someone knocks on the door: the landlady.
Landlady (subtitles):

Lira:
“I do not hide. I am a—”
Jinwoo: “Just hide!”
She blinks once and disappears into thin air.
A Genie in the Modern World
After Jinwoo pays rent with the very last of his savings, Lira reappears, yawning.
Lira (subtitles): “Humans stress too much. You should wish for a palace.”
Jinwoo shakes his head.
Jinwoo:
“I’m not wasting a wish on money or luxury.”
Lira sits on the floor, inspecting a cellphone she has picked up.
Lira:
“Strange metal box… why does it glow?”
She accidentally dials emergency help. Jinwoo snatches the phone back, horrified.
Jinwoo (subtitles):
“Please don’t touch things!”
Lira looks offended again.
Flashback: The Genie’s Past
Later that night, when Jinwoo falls asleep at his desk preparing his résumé, Lira sits by the window, staring at the moon. Soft, melancholic music plays as a flashback begins.
A desert palace.
A furious sorcerer.
A young Lira being sealed into the lamp.
His voice echoes:
Sorcerer (subtitles):
“You shall grant wishes for others… but never your own.”
Lira whispers to herself:
Lira: “Another master. Another life of servitude.”
A single tear escapes her eye.
Morning Chaos
Jinwoo wakes up early for a job interview. Lira floats beside his head, poking his cheeks.
Lira (subtitles):
“Wake up. You look worse than a drought-stricken camel.”
Jinwoo groans.
Jinwoo: “Please stop waking me like that.”
Lira snaps her fingers and instantly cleans the apartment—clothes folded, dishes washed, books neatly stacked.
Jinwoo:
“…I said don’t use magic!”
Lira:
“Humans are impossible.”
The Interview Disaster
Jinwoo rushes to the office building. Lira follows him invisibly—she insisted it was “research.”
As he sits before the panel of interviewers, he tries to stay calm. But Lira, unable to resist, leans close to him invisibly.
Lira (subtitles whispering):
“Why do they look so angry? Is this a trial?”
Jinwoo flinches. The interviewers exchange confused glances.
One interviewer asks:
Interviewer (subtitles):
“Do you work well under pressure?”
Lira suddenly yells, though only Jinwoo can hear:
Lira: “Tell them you defeated a thousand-year-old sand monster!”
Jinwoo blurts:
Jinwoo: “I defeated a sand monster— I mean— no! I… I work very well under pressure.”
The interviewers look horrified.
The scene cuts to Jinwoo walking out, rejected.
A Heated Argument
Outside, Jinwoo glares at Lira.
Jinwoo (subtitles):
“You ruined my interview!”
Lira scowls.
Lira:
“You should have wished for success.”
Jinwoo:
“I’m not using magic to cheat!”
Lira crosses her arms.
Lira:
“Then stop blaming me for your failures.”
The words sting Jinwoo. He walks away without replying.
A New Threat Appears
As Jinwoo heads home, a mysterious man in a long coat watches him from across the street. His eyes glow faintly purple.
Mysterious Man (subtitles):
“So the lamp has chosen a new master…”
He disappears into the crowd.
Lira Tries to Make Amends
Back in the apartment, Lira nervously floats in circles. She feels guilty, though she doesn’t understand human emotions fully.
When Jinwoo returns, exhausted and silent, she kneels awkwardly in front of him.
Lira (subtitles):
“I… may have tried too hard. I only wanted you to succeed.”
Jinwoo sighs, his anger fading.
Jinwoo:
“I know. But I need to live my own life—not a magical shortcut.”
Lira looks genuinely curious.
Lira:
“Why? Your life seems very difficult.”
Jinwoo laughs tiredly.
Jinwoo:
“Because it’s mine. And even if I fail, at least the failure is real.”
For the first time, Lira begins to understand.
The First Wish Happens Accidentally
Suddenly, Jinwoo’s stomach growls loudly. He hasn’t eaten all day.
Lira’s eyes widen.
Lira:
“Are you… dying?”
Jinwoo: “I’m hungry, not dying.”
Lira snaps her fingers.
Lira (subtitles): “I wish there was food—”
Jinwoo jumps.
Jinwoo: “NO— Don’t say ‘wish’—”
Too late.
A table filled with luxurious Middle Eastern dishes appears instantly.
Jinwoo panics.
Jinwoo:
“Did you just—?!”
Lira smiles innocently.
Lira: “You were starving. I helped.”
He holds his head in disbelief.
Jinwoo (subtitles):
“That counts as my first wish?”
Lira nods softly.
Lira:
“Yes… and now you have only two left.”
A Quiet Night
They sit together eating the magical feast. Jinwoo slowly relaxes while Lira watches him curiously, resting her chin in her hands.
Lira (subtitles):
“What do humans usually wish for?”
Jinwoo thinks carefully.
Jinwoo:
“Love… happiness… success… safety.”
Lira’s expression turns strangely sad.
Lira:
“Genies don’t get any of those.”
Jinwoo pauses.
Jinwoo (softly):
“Maybe that can change.”
Lira’s eyes shine for a moment, as if hope briefly touches her.
Final Scene – The Hunter Arrives
The camera cuts to a dimly lit warehouse. The mysterious man from earlier kneels before an ancient scroll.
Symbols glow along his hands.
Mysterious Man (subtitles):
“The genie has awakened… I must claim the lamp before she bonds with her master.”
He opens a map where Jinwoo’s apartment is circled in red.
Mysterious Man:
“Let the hunt begin.”
The screen fades to black as ominous music plays.
